IN THE MATTER OF THE BANKRUPTCY OF RASHIDA ABDULRASUL SAMJI
On December 5, 2012, Rashida Abdulrasul Samji, Rashida Samji Notary Corporation and Samji & Assoc. Holdings Inc. (collectively, the “Samji Group”) filed bankruptcy assignments pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and Boale, Wood & Company Ltd. (the “Trustee”) was appointed as the Trustee in Bankruptcy of the Samji Group. The estates of the Samji Group were consolidated pursuant to an Order of the Supreme Court of British Columbia dated June 26, 2013.
On September 10, 2014 the Supreme Court of British Columbia made on Order authorizing the Trustee to conduct a Claims Process for the determination of Claims of Creditors against the Samji Group (the “Claims Process Order”),. The claims process was completed by the Trustee in December 2014.
Since being appointed, the Trustee has arranged for and completed the sale of all real properties of the Samji Group which resulted in recovery to the estate of approximately $2,000,000. The Trustee has also pursued recovery from the net winners of Samji Group’s investment scheme that to date has resulted in recovery to the estate of approximately $5,400,000.
Since being appointed, the Trustee has made four distributions to the creditors totaling $4,000,000.
